The teeing ground, or tee box, is an area that has short cut grass and contains tee markers showing where to begin each hole.

Each hole has multiple sets of tee markers that could be located on multiple tee boxes for different players.

These markers are usually different colors so they can be easily identified.

Different courses use different colors to designate each set of tees.

An example might be as follows:

Black- Furthest back tees for most advanced golfers

Blue- Better than average golfers, in front of black tees

White- Standard men’s tees, in front of blue tees

Gold- Senior Men’s tee over 65, in front of white tees

Red- Standard Women’s tees, in front of gold tees

Silver- Senior Women’s tees over 65, in front of red tees

You play the same tees each hole for the entire round.

See “Teeing Off” to learn how to tee it up.
